 New Premises from January 2022

We have exciting news to share about the long-term future of Burgh Wood Montessori Nursery School.

Since taking over Burgh Wood Montessori nearly five years ago we have, as part of our strategic plan, sought to acquire permanent premises for the nursery school so as to safeguard the long-term future of the business and to provide the physical space necessary to deliver a bespoke, nurturing and learning-focused environment for children.

Over the past two years this project has taken us on a journey around several Banstead properties, and in January this year, we purchased a detached house with a large garden in Brighton Road (adjacent to the veterinary practice) and thus began the process of drafting pre-application plans, instructing planners, organising traffic and noise reports and working through the general minefield of planning applications.

It is with great delight (and much relief) that in July 2021 planning permission was approved by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council to convert the property into a new, permanent home for Burgh Wood Montessori Nursery School. We have started the refurbishment and building work  to redevelop the property, and we aim to move to our new home by January 2022 latest (we will remain at our current premises until the move).

The new nursery school will allow us to open Monday to Friday, and we will be extending our hours to incorporate a breakfast club from 8am to 9am, and an afternoon club from 3pm to 4pm.

Come back regularly to this page to see how the refurbishment is progressing.

Toilet Roll Challenge!

During these very challenging and anxious times, everyone needs a little pick me up! So imagine my delight when this video landed in my email box. Thank you so much to my amazing children at Burgh Wood Montessori for sending this to me and the Team. It brought a big smile to us all. We miss you and hope to see you soon!

From Miss Jo and the team.

“Both my children attended the Burgh Wood Montessori pre-school and we all loved it! The kids and I were definitely sad to leave. Miss Jo has created a fantastic environment here, from the friendly and warm welcome every day, engaging daily activities, school outings, cooking classes, healthy snacks, and genuine engagement in their development. Jo and her team really care about the school and every pupil. My kids came on leaps and bounds in their learning and with a love to learn and read. I also loved the regular updates and photos on what they had been doing throughout the day. I can’t fault this pre-school. “

“Both my daughters attended Burgh Wood Montessori from the age of 2 and they graduated not only with confidence but with a strong foundation ahead of starting their new school. There are such a variety of activities that take place on a daily basis such as Yoga, Forest School, Reading, Writing, School Visits and daily routines such as Montessori based learning activities. There was always enough to keep the children focused, happy and occupied. Jo and her team focus on the child and not the class and we were so sad when it was time to leave. We would therefore highly recommend Burgh Wood Montessori to any parent.”

Highly recommending

“A lovely nurturing environment, Our second daughter was shy upon starting but has really grown in confidence and the changes the new head is implementing are just amazing. Great team of staff, super school, cannot recommend enough!”
